Easy Stuffed Shells Recipe

This is an easy stuffed shells recipe that is filled with three different cheeses (cottage cheese, Mozzarella, and Parmesan) and topped with your favorite pasta sauce.

  • 12 ounce package jumbo pasta shells
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 16 ounce cottage cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella divided
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Parmesan cheese divided
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese divided
  • 1/2 Tbsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 24 ounce pasta sauce (About 3 cups)


  • In a large pot of lightly salted water, boil the jumbo pasta shells for 8-10 minutes. Drain.
  • In a large bowl, mix the egg, cottage cheese, half of the mozzarella, half of the shredded Parmesan, half of the grated Parmesan, basil, salt and pepper until well combined.
  • Place half of the pasta sauce (about 1 1/2 cups) on the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish.
  • Stuff the cooked shells by placing a large spoonful of the cottage cheese mixture in them, and then place in baking dish on top of the pasta sauce. You'll be able to fill about 25 jumbo shells.
  • In a bowl, mix the remaining pasta sauce, mozzarella cheese, shredded Parmesan cheese, and grated Parmesan cheese. Spoon it over the stuffed shells.
  • Cover with aluminum foil. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Then take off the aluminum foil and allow to bake for 5-10 more minutes until bubbly.
