Preserving Fresh Peaches

September 24, 2013 by Lisa Park + 3 Comments

A friend of mine who has a peach tree let me come over and pick peaches. They were such good canning peaches because the skins came off so easily. Plus, they tasted delicious! I went to work to freezing, canning, and making jam with all of the peaches. During the next week, I’ll share with you the details of my week with peaches.

For those of you who have read some of my other recent posts, you’ll notice that I’m a fan of flash freezing certain types of produce. Freezing peaches is easy to do, here’s how to do it:

Place the peaches in warm water in the sink for a few minutes. This will help to loosen the skins. Peel the peaches, then cut them into slices and place them on a large pan. Flash freeze the peaches for 1-2 hours. Take the peaches and place them in a labeled freezer ziploc bag.

We’ve already used some of the frozen peaches to make peach smoothies. Yum!
