This is an easy apple crisp recipe with fresh apples and a crumble topping.  Add ice cream on top of the warm apple crisp to enjoy a delicious fall dessert.
  • 8 cups apples, peeled and sliced (Golden Delicious and Granny Smith)
  • ½ cup apple juice
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ¾ cup flour
  • ¾ cup oats
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • dash of salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  1. Peel and slice the Golden Delicious and Granny Smith apples and place in a 9x13 baking dish. Sprinkle the apples with apple juice. (Note: I use an even mix of these two apples because it brings out the sweet and tart in the apple crisp.)
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the sugar, brown sugar, flour, oats, cinnamon, ground nutmeg and salt. Cut in the softened butter until the mixture becomes crumbly.
  3. Sprinkle the crumble mixture on top of the apples.
  4. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes until apples are tender and the topping is crisp.
  5. Serve warm with ice cream.
