DIY Homemade Hair Detangler

April 27, 2018 by Lisa Park + 2 Comments

DIY 2 ingredient homemade hair detanglerAs a mother of two girls, I’m constantly trying to brush tangles out of my girls’ hair every day. And many times they’ll say “ouch that hurts” as I’m brushing their hair. I want to cut my oldest daughter’s hair so it’s closer to her shoulders and easier to brush, but she said that she wants to grow out her hair so she can donate it to Locks of Love. I can’t argue with that, so we just deal with the tangly hair each day.

Recently when I went to a salon to get my hair cut, my stylist and I were discussing tangly hair. She told me about a hair detangling brush that works really well. I want to try this hair detangling brush here. However, I decided to first do some research online about how to make a homemade hair detangler, and I found that I only needed two ingredients. It’s so easy and inexpensive to make! I can’t believe that I didn’t do it sooner. And I’m saving money by not going out and buying hair detangler at the store. The complete directions to the DIY Homemade Hair Detangler is below:

DIY Homemade Hair Detangler

Small 12 oz Spray Bottle
1 cup hot water
2 Tablespoons hair conditioner

Directions:
Pour 1 cup of hot water in the spray bottle. Squeeze about 2 Tablespoons of conditioner in with the hot water. Shake until it’s thoroughly mixed.  Spray some of the DIY homemade hair detangler solution on wet or dry hair before brushing through it.

My girls told me that this DIY homemade hair detangler works because it didn’t hurt so much to get the tangles out when I brush their hair, and I was able to brush through their hair much more easily.

What is something you do to get tangles out of the hair?

Why are you even using a brush? Brushes are very rough and damage hair. When I finally started to grow my hair out, I stopped using a brush and use only a wide tooth comb. I start from the ends, and work my way up to the roots. I do apply some coconut oil to keep my ends from drying out, but the wide tooth comb beats the brush hands down. No tangles, no yanking, only smooth silky hair. My mother used to use a brush starting ight from the roots and it would yank my hair and she took me to her salon to keep it cut short as she did not know how to care for long hair as she always sported an extremely short butch cur. Mine now reaches past my elbows and I would never dream of punishing myself with using a brush on my tresses. Try the wide tooth comb, you and your daughters will be very pleased with how much better it works and no more painful yankng of their hair.
