cake batter fudge

I love desserts that only take a few minutes to whip together. This Cake Batter Fudge is yummy, gooey, and oh so sweet. Thanks to a friend for sharing this recipe.

Ingredients
  • 2 cups yellow cake mix
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • ½ cup butter, cut into small squares
  • ½ cup milk
  • sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, mix the cake mix and powdered sugar. Then add the butter squares and milk, but don't stir.
  2. Place the bowl in the microwave for 3 minutes. Immediately stir until all the ingredients are combined.
  3. If batter is a little runny, add in 3-4 tsp. powdered sugar and 3-4 tsp. cake mix and stir. Continue to add in teaspoons of powdered sugar and cake mix until the batter is stiff.
  4. Mix in sprinkles if desired, but do not overmix them.
  5. Spread into greased 9"x9" pan. Place in the freezer for 1-2 hours.
  6. Take it out of the freezer and cut it into squares. Keep in the refrigerator until ready to eat.

Mine never set up to where it could be cut- it was more or less a thick goo!:/. Where did I go wrong- I’m guessing the butter…

I probably should have included this tip, but after I added more teaspoons of cake mix and powdered sugar until I felt that it was really thick, I actually placed it in the freezer for 2 hours. I was then able to cut it into squares. Then after that, I kept the fudge in the fridge until we ate it up. You’ll have to try it again using that method and let me know how it works out for you. I’ll make note of it in the recipe for others.

I used another cup of confectionary sugar and the whole box of cake mix to the recipe above and beat with a mixer. I used sugar free cake mix.

Can you use white cake mix instead of yellow cake mix?

I haven’t tried using a white cake mix, so I’m not sure how it would change the taste. I think it would probably still taste good. If you do try it, let me know if you like it.

I am looking to make some to send over seas to my boyfriend for his birthday. Any idea how long it lasts? I know typically a “cake in a jar” would last roughly 1-2(max) weeks….I was wondering about the fudge.

Adriana, I’m not sure how long it lasts. I keep mine fudge in the fridge until it’s all eaten. If it was left out of the fridge, it would turn gooey. Sorry I can’t really answer your question.

Nobody should eat this!!! The flour in the cake mix is uncooked and contains any number of bugs such as Salmonella and Ecoli!!! Not worth getting sick over!!!!
