Homemade Ice Cream in a Bag

Ice Cream in a Bag

A few years ago, my sister-in-law introduced me to this homemade ice cream in a bag. It was so much fun to make, and it’s is so easy to do. The recipe only has three ingredients. Since it’s been so hot lately, I thought this would be a fun activity to do with my girls outside. My oldest daughter had the most fun shaking the bag. And she ended up shaking my younger daughter’s ice cream bag too.

Ice Cream in a Bag Ingredients

1 cup half & half
2 Tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

You’ll also need:
1/2 cup rock salt or table salt
Ice cubes
Gallon-sized Ziploc bag
Pint-sized Ziploc bag

Ice Cream in a Bag - Two Bags TogetherPlace the pint-size cream mixture bag inside of the ice-filled gallon-size bag. I added a few more ice cubes on top of the small bag. Then seal tightly.

Ice Cream in a Bag Shaking ItShake for about 5-10 minutes. My daughters had so much fun shaking the bags of ice cream.

Once the ice cream is hard, take the pint-size bag out and run it under cold water to quickly rinse off the salt.
