A few years ago, my sister-in-law introduced me to this homemade ice cream in a bag. It was so much fun to make, and it’s is so easy to do. The recipe only has three ingredients. Since it’s been so hot lately, I thought this would be a fun activity to do with my girls outside. My oldest daughter had the most fun shaking the bag. And she ended up shaking my younger daughter’s ice cream bag too.
ICE CREAM IN A BAG:
1 cup half & half
2 Tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
You’ll also need:
1/2 cup rock salt or table salt
Ice cubes
Gallon-sized Ziploc bag
Pint-sized Ziploc bag
Directions: Mix the half and half, sugar and vanilla extract in a bowl.
Place the cream mixture in a pint-size Ziploc bag and make sure it’s sealed tight.
In a gallon-size Ziploc bag, fill it about half full of ice cubes. Then add a 1/2 cup rock salt.
Place the pint-size cream mixture bag inside of the ice-filled gallon-size bag. I added a few more ice cubes on top of the small bag. Then seal tightly.
Shake for about 5-10 minutes. My daughters had so much fun shaking the bags of ice cream.
Once the ice cream is hard, take the pint-size bag out and run it under cold water to quickly rinse off the salt.
Stick a spoon in it and enjoy!
