This Flashlight and Star Poem was a cute idea that I got from my mother-in-law and sister-in-law, and so this year for Christmas we gave these as gifts to our neighbors. I love that this gift is useful and can be kept in the house or placed in the car. And of course this is something the kids just love to play with at night. Here’s the poem on the star.
I’m a happy Christmas light
and I can tell you why,
I represent a special star
that shined up in the sky.
Long ago a star shone bright
for all men on earth to see,
The night a Babe in Bethlehem
was born for you and me.
‘Twas a heavenly song of promise
that guided wise men from afar,
It showed the place where Jesus lay
it was more than just a star.
The world has not forgotten
the star that shined that night,
This tiny little flashlight
represents that special light,
Yes, I’m a happy Christmas light
and I can tell you why,
I represent a special star
that shined up in the sky.
My mother-in-law used a cookie cutter to trace the shape of a star. I printed the Star poem on cardstock, and then purchased the LED flashlights at Harbor Freight using coupons we received in the mail and newspaper. It didn’t take too much time to put together, but it’s a thoughtful and useful Christmas gift.
