Frugal and Fun Summer Activities (Part 4)

June 25, 2013 by Lisa Park + 1 Comment

Make sure to check out all of the Frugal and Fun Activities I posted this past month. And below are more fun activities to do with the kids this summer.

Mega Bubbles – Head to a hardware store to pick up eye hooks, wooden dowels, butcher’s twine, and a washer to make Mega Bubbles. To make the bubble solution, mix a half cup of water, a half cup of dishwashing liquid, and one tablespoon of vegetable oil. You can multiply these quantities to make the amount of solution you’ll need. Allow the mixture to sit overnight before using.

DIY Bird Feeder – The birds will enjoy visiting your yard with this homemade treat, and the kids will enjoy watching them.

Bean Bag Toss – Use this tutorial to make your own Cornhole Bean Bag Toss game.

Homemade Stomp Rocket – Learn how to make a homemade Stomp Rocket with materials around your house.

Water Gun Ping Pong Target Range – Use the water gun to spray the ping pong balls off the golf tees.

Because older children tend to want more expensive gifts than the younger siblings, try this budgeting method to determine how much to spend on each child. First: Add together the ages of your kids. Johnny, 5; Sally, 7; Joe, 12 = 24 Second: Divide the Christmas budget total for the kids by the sum of their ages. Let's say the Christmas budget is $500. $500/24 = $20.83 I rounded it to $21 to make it easier to calculate   Third:Take the number from above and multiply each child's age. $21 x 5 = $105
$21 x 7 = $147
