Changes in Our Labor Day Weekend Plans

For the Labor Day weekend we wanted to go camping as a family. The first evening we were gone, our 3-year-old came down with a fever and was sick, so we ended up coming back home the next day.  🙁

We had to come home early anyway because my husband’s aunt had passed away and the funeral was Saturday. So while my husband attended the funeral, I stayed home with our sick daughter and our baby. I decided that I might as well be productive, so I canned 25 quarts of peaches! That was definitely a very long day. I didn’t finish till that evening because I had to regularly pause filling the jars with peaches so I could take care of the girls.

Then yesterday for Labor Day, we ended up “laboring” and we chopped and gathered firewood for my mother-in-law so she would have enough for the winter.

We didn’t do what we had orginally planned during the Labor Day weekend, but I’ve learned that it’s best to just go with the flow. And the things we were able to do together with the family were enjoyable.
